: Error: ffff:ffff Fatal Game Client Exception
#1 Grongothian12/29/2015, 03:00 PM
Got this error randomly after playing Tera for a while.
Really want to continue playing Tera.
I don't know what happened but all of a sudden got this error while starting up tera one day. I don't even see character screen. Just Launcher with the error.
I've tried pretty much every method to cure this error that you gave me.
None has worked.
I attached my EME-Diagnostic.
I'm pretty sure what I need to do is in there but I've no idea what to do.
Help would be lovely.
Thank you in advance.
( In my EME-dianostic it says:

I am having a similar issue.

My trouble started weeks ago with random crashes, and once in a while, whatever toon I was playing at the time of the crash, would then crash instantly on log-in with that toon.

I now have 4 toons that I am unable to play for this reason, and now, it has advanced to the client crrashing on load, with the ffff-ffff error code.

I have tried all of the "fixes" in the so-called troubleshooting guide, to zero avail.

I have tried using a downloaded game.version file, to no avail.

I have completely started over with a fresh client download, to no avail.

Currently, my patcher says it's downloading, but it goes nowhere past 0%. I have no idea what it thinks it's downloading, as I have a totally fresh downloaded game version, and it is also freshly patched.

I have wasted days on this issue. I guess my tickets will be answered in 4 to 6 days, though, as the wait time is ten days, and I started submitting tickets on these issues almost a week ago.

I've probably been kicked from the guild by now.

I'm sorry to say, but for me, this is the end of TERA. I simply cannot justify the days on end of frustration in trying to get this game working. If the support queues were reasonable, it would be very different, but ten days? Um, no.

FFFF:FFFF errors are TERA's generic "program crash" error. They can be caused by just about anything, but the most common causes are: corrupt files, modified files, incomplete download (via Happy Cloud) and hardware problems.

The most common fix for the error is to run a repair. There can be a few situations where a repair through the launcher doesn't work properly, in which case I would recommend trying to add the game through Steam. (You can move your TERA folder to your Steam Library's steamapps\common\ folder and then add the game, and it will re-use what it can of your existing download.)

If by chance you ever modified any files or installed any client-side mods, you should try removing them or restoring to the defaults. (This doesn't affect most people, but can affect some.)

If you downloaded via HappyCloud, be sure to let it fully-finish the download to 100% before trying to play characters above level 11.

And for the last... I've seen a wide variety of different hardware problems cause this, including a bad RAM stick, a dying hard drive, beta/pre-release video card drivers, a bad game controller driver, and more. Usually people discovered their own root cause through trial and error, unfortunately, as there's no single common piece of hardware. Again, as FFFF is just a generic crash, it's very hard to pinpoint the root cause.

That's basically what I know about this error, for whatever it's worth.

Finally, got rid of that FFFF.FFFF problema, after almost 2 months i could play again..... how????
Its simple!
1) Open the HappyCloud launcher ("old" TERA) and let it update.
1-a) Make sure you are not downloading the new client from Steam.
2) Once finished, navigate to "C:\ProgramData\HappyCloud\Cache".
3) Copy the folder name "TERA".
4) Navigate to Steam's app folder (probably here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common").
4-a) If there is a folder named TERA already, delete it.
5) Paste the TERA folder here.
6) Launch Steam and do a full check files
7) Wait for Steam to verify the files.
* Probably the PLAY button on laucher will be gray, dont worry. Just go to the TERA folder, execute the laucher and wait the update to finish
8) Click PLAY and good game
PS.: im playing right now \o/
